Lutron Homeworks 1.33 Interface Instructions

Follow these instructions to create the serial equipment interface on the Lutron Homeworks system (version 1.33 or later) and to assign it to a port. Once this is done, the Lutron processor/boards will push out the updated information through the serial interface to the Cortexa.

Lutron Set-Up

  1. In the programming menu (view>>programming), go to “Security Programming” (lock on right hand side).
  2. Go to the Interface Tab, select “Serial Equipment” and then click add. A serial output definition box will appear.
  3. Name the device as "Cortexa", and use the following configuration:
    • *Driver: Generic
    • *Baud Rate: 115200
    • *Data Bit: 8
    • *Parity: None
    • *Stop Bits: 1
    • *Handshaking: None
    • *Monitoring - check Dimmer Levels, Keypad Buttons, Keypad LEDs, GrafikEye
    • *Check “Suppress L232 prompt”, and then check “Suppress Modem String” (do not check "Suppress Replies")
  4. Go to Address Assignments (View>Address Assignments) and do the following:
    • *Select appropriate processor (if only one processor, skip this step)
    • *Select the desired link, it should say the Link # : (RS232)
    • *Select the recently named serial device (named "Cortexa") in the right pane
    • *Click in the white area under location to assign the Cortexa to the correct link.
  5. Save the project
  6. Upload the modified project to the Processor
  7. Reboot the processor

Cortexa Set-up

  1. On the Sub-System setup page, in the HomeWorks entry, select the following:
    • *Specify the COM port to which the Lutron system is connected
    • *Baud Rate: 115200
  2. Click “Save” at bottom of page
  3. Add a lighting device for each Lutron HomeWorks address via the Cortexa’s Device Manager page.
