Cortexa Adding an Additional Listening Port
Pdf Download
For safety reasons, setting up a port other than port 80 (http) to access your Cortexa is ideal. The preferred method for accomplishing this is to set up a port other than 80 on your router and forward that to port 80 of the IP of your Cortexa at your Cortexa's IP address. This also allows internal access to the Cortexa via the LAN without adding needing to type or remember the port number. Unfortunately, some routers do not allow for port translation from the external network (WAN) to the internal network (LAN).
For routers that do not allow port translation, that following steps can be used to set up an additional listening port on the Cortexa, other than port 80. Instructions should be followed in this specific order. Having your Cortexa on a static IP on of your network is required.
If you have already attempted to change the port and cannot access the Cortexa, a keyboard and monitor would will be needed to reset the network settings to factory defaults. Boot the Cortexa and when the console menu comes up, select 4 - Reset to Factory Defaults.
Setting up your Cortexa to listen on an additional port is easy and can be helpful for remote access
- Step 1.) Navigate to Firewall -> Forwards and hit the + button to add a new forward.
- Step 2.) Use the following
- Interface : WAN (default)
- External Address : Interface Address (default)
- Protocol: TCP
- External port range: CHOOSE DESIRED PORT NUMBER (only put a single port in the from field)
- Forward IP: STATIC IP OF THE CORTEXA
- Local Port: HTTP
- Description: Text field for identification
- Figure 1: New Firewall Forward Screen
- Figure 2: Apply Changes Button After Saving Firewall Forward
- Hit apply changes on the main Firewall Forwards page.
- Step 3.) Access your Cortexa via IP address with the PORT NUMBER (i.e. http://192.168.x.x:PORT#), to verify that the forward works.
